Jin Tamaoki is a Japanese photographer whose work explores the relationship between human presence, landscape, and the passage of time.
Working primarily with cities, coastlines, mountains, and evolving urban environments, he is interested in how places reveal themselves through light, weather, and atmosphere. His photographs often occupy the space between observation and contemplation, documenting not only physical landscapes but also the sense of scale that surrounds them.
Although cities are a recurring subject in his work, Tamaoki does not view the built environment as separate from nature. Glass, steel, concrete, mountains, rivers, and human activity are all part of the same continuum. His images seek to observe these connections and the temporary forms they create.
Influenced by a perspective that looks beyond the human scale, his work reflects an awareness of the vastness of time and the universe. Within that perspective, cities appear as brief constellations of light — moments of order and presence within a much larger landscape.
This awareness continues to shape the way he approaches both natural and urban environments, seeking connections between the visible world and the larger forces that surround it.
Before dedicating himself primarily to photography, Tamaoki founded and directed atomic, a design studio based in Tokyo's Ginza district, where he spent more than two decades working as a designer and creative director. His work has been published, exhibited, awarded, and licensed internationally, including a photograph selected as a key visual for the official website of the Tokyo Olympic Games. His photographs are represented internationally through platforms such as Aflo and YellowKorner.
Based in Japan, he continues to explore the intersections of light, landscape, and human presence through photography.

玉置じん は、日本を拠点に活動するフォトグラファーであり、人間の営み、風景、そして時間の流れが織りなす関係性をテーマに作品を制作している。
都市、海岸線、山岳風景、そして変化し続ける都市環境を主な被写体としながら、光や天候、空気感によって場所が見せる表情に強い関心を寄せている。その作品は単なる記録ではなく、風景を見つめる行為そのものへの考察でもある。目に見える景色だけでなく、その背後に流れる時間や存在のスケールを写し取ろうとしている。
都市は作品に繰り返し登場する重要なモチーフである。しかし玉置は、人工物と自然を対立するものとして捉えてはいない。ガラス、鉄、コンクリート、山、川、そして人間の活動もまた、すべて同じ世界の連続した現象であると考えている。作品は、それらが一時的に結びつきながら形づくる風景と、その儚い均衡を見つめている。
その視点の根底には、人間の尺度を超えた時間と宇宙への意識がある。広大な宇宙の中では、都市もまた一瞬だけ輝く光の集積に過ぎない。夜の都市に広がる無数の灯りは、人間の存在の証であると同時に、はかなく移ろい続ける風景でもある。
東京・銀座で20年以上にわたりデザインスタジオ atomic を主宰した後、写真表現を創作活動の中心とするようになる。その経験は現在の作品にも反映されており、構成力、空間認識、そして視覚的な明快さとして息づいている。
作品は国内外で発表され、国際写真賞での受賞歴を持つほか、広告・出版・編集分野など幅広い媒体にライセンス提供されている。また、東京オリンピック公式ウェブサイトでは作品がキービジュアルとして採用され、フォトグラファークレジットとともに掲載された。作品はAfloおよびYellowKornerをはじめとする国際的な写真プラットフォームを通じて紹介・販売されている。
現在は日本を拠点に活動し、光と風景、そして人間の存在が交差する瞬間を追い続けている。
